A 21-year-old is dead after a hit-skip motorcycle accident Sunday night in Akron.
Akron police are investigating a deadly hit-skip accident that occurred just after 11 p.m. Sunday in the area of 500 E Tallmadge – near Save-A-Lot.
Police say the motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when a maroon vehicle pulled out of the Save-A-Lot parking. The motorcycle struck the right side bumper of the vehicle, ejecting the passenger from the motorcycle. The passenger sustained serious injury, according to Akron Police.
The operator of the motorcycle struck a utility pole and was killed on impact.
The maroon vehicle fled the scene after the accident. Police say speed is believed to be a factor in the fatal accident.
