Brittany Gosney, the 29-year-old mother accused of murdering her six-year-old son, James Hutchinson, told police she first tried to abandon the child at a park. Hutchinson grabbed onto the vehicle and that is when she dragged him down the road with her vehicle and ran him over, according to police reports.
Gosney admitted to dumping her son’s body in the Ohio River near Lawrenceburg, Indiana – according to WCPO.
The mother first reported Hutchinson missing Sunday morning before she admitted to killing him the Friday before and disposing of his body Saturday.
Court documents show that Gosney told police she tried to abandon her son at Rush Run Park in Preble County, near her hometown of Middletown. As she drove off, that’s when six-year-old Hutchinson tried to get back into the vehicle and she dragged him down the road.
Fox 19 reports that she returned to the park about 30 to 40 minutes later and discovered the boy dead in the parking lot with a head injury. Gosney’s other two children were in the vehicle during the alleged murder. They have since been removed from the household.
Gosney is being held on $1,000,000 bond. She’s been charged with murder, gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Her boyfriend, James Hamilton, is charged with gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. According to police, Hamilton was not present when the child was killed.
