A local fire department is left without their fire chief and assistant fire chief, in what appears to be two separate incidents.

Jewett Volunteer Fire Chief Denny Kovarik and Assistant Chief Richard Miser have both died, according to a post from the department’s Facebook page.

“Please pray for the families, friends and fellow firemen of our two lifelong firemen,” the social media post read. “Chief Denny Kovarik and Assistant Chief Richard Miser. You will be greatly missed by so many. RIP gentlemen.”

Miser was the victim of a murder-suicide in Jefferson County, shot at least six times according to authorities. The cause of death for Chief Kovarik is unclear at this time.
