Monday evening at 5:45 p.m., Akron Police were dispatched to the interestion of S. Arlington St. and Georgia Ave for an accident.
Upon arrival, police learned that a 62-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. She transported to Akron City Hospital where she was later pronouced dead.
The circumstances of the crash are unknown and remain under investigation.
Police have no knowledge why the woman was in the roadway when she was struck by the vehicle – which police described as a possible silver colored vehicle.
