A 17-year-old boy was killed in a single-car crash early Sept. 7 that investigators believe involved alcohol, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the teen was driving a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi southbound on South Arlington Road in Green, just south of Lake Breeze Drive, around 2 a.m. when he lost control. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and rolled several times.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt and was the only person in the car, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the teen’s name.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Green Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
