A 23-month-old girl has died after being rescued from a house fire in Plain Township, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 9:22 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the 3400 block of Easton Street NE, according to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and firefighters from the Plain Township Fire Department responded after receiving a 911 call indicating a child was trapped inside the home.
First responders located and removed Havana Grace Collins-Cody from the residence. She was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Her identity and family details were provided by her family.
Havana is the daughter of Mary (Cody) Collins and Zachary Collins and had an older brother.

Deputies who assisted in the rescue were also taken to the hospital for evaluation due to smoke inhalation.
Havana’s grandfather remains hospitalized at Mercy in stable condition following the fire, according to family members.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Stark County Coroner’s Office, Hartville Fire Department, Nimishillen Township Fire Department, North Canton Fire Department, Greentown Fire Department and Marlboro Township Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
